米国特許庁の譲渡情報DB 「Assignment on the Web」の新機能

目下、リニューアル中の米国特許庁（USPTO）Webサイト。

今回、譲渡情報のデータベース
「Assignment on the Web」の画面構成が変わり、
検索機能も拡充されました。

どうやら、サイトの更新に合わせ、
データベースも強化が図られる模様です。


少し長くなりそうなので、この記事は一旦折り畳みます。
画面構成と、新機能のご紹介は記事の続きからどうぞ。

1｜ 20世紀風から21世紀風に。画面構成の変化

Assignment on the Web
従来の検索画面です。

USPTOの検索系画面って、昔からこんな雰囲気ですよね？

私、ひそかに「20世紀風の画面」って思ってました。
※21世紀になってから、何年経っていましたっけね～～？(笑)



2015年１月現在、こちらは　Legacy Assignment Search　扱いになっています。



そして、今回リニューアルされた画面。
おお、やっと今風に！　･･･って思いました。21世紀風？　



ちなみに、2015年1月23日時点では特許だけ、リニューアルされていまして、
商標検索は、20世紀風の画面を使うよう案内されています。

新・Assignment Search (特許)

２｜ これは嬉しい！新検索機能

21世紀風になったAssignment Searchの、嬉しい新機能です。


まず、従来の検索画面ですと、
２項目同時入力はできませんでした。

検索、ではなく、入力すらできないのですよ！


たとえば･･･
「MOTOROLAからGoogleへ譲渡」　と検索したい場合、

Assignor　｜　MOTOROLA
Assignee　｜　Google

って入力＆検索したらよさそうですが、


実際には、
AssignorにMOTOROLA、と入力しておき、
Assigneeの欄で、「G」とキーボード押した瞬間に、
MOTOROLAの文字が消去されるんです。

・・・鬼のような仕様でございます。(涙



これが、どうなったか。


まず、検索項目。
初期画面で「Advanced Search」を表示させます。



こちらが、全検索項目。全体的に検索項目が増えました。



そして、懸案だった　(←私の懸案、です。笑）
Assignor → Assignee 検索。


見事に解決できました！


検索画面上で

Assignor　｜　MOTOROLA
Assignee　｜　Google

とした場合は、残念ながらうまくいかなかったのですが、

※私が方法を見つけられないだけで、
※実は、検索できるのかもしれません。
※何かわかったら、追記しますね。


検索後に、フィルタをかけると一瞬でできました。


まず、Assignee = Google で検索しておきます。
続いて、検索結果一覧の左側から、Assignorを探します。



Assignorの文字をクリックすると、
譲渡元の上位15名(15社)分が表示されます。




MOTOROLA　MOBILITYがトップにあるので、クリック。
該当の171件に、絞り込まれます。

この方法で、Assignor → Assignee の検索はバッチリです。


TOP 15 で足りない時は、Show More から探しましょう。

そういえば･･･同じUSPTOの、付与後Trialの検索も、
「一旦検索しておき、集合内を絞り込み」のスタイルになっていますよね。

ちなみに、検索用語(？）では、
この方法を「二次検索」と言いまして、

大昔（20世紀、っていうか、昭和の時代、笑)には、
二次検索の方が、検索システムへの負荷が小さく、
結果的に検索が軽くなる、なんて言われてたものですが、


今、２１世紀ですよね？(笑
アメリカなんて　「検索エンジンのパワー、無限大」ってイメージなのに・・・

なんで、最近のUSPTO、二次検索が好きなんやろ？

それはさておき。

この二次検索、
他にも「譲渡年別」などを使うのも面白そうです。

最後に、新しいAssignmentの演算子一覧、貼っておきます。

Fuzzy Searches
~	Returns terms similar in spelling	roam~ will return foam and roams
Boolean Operator
AND	Returns results with three, plug, monomers and porous. If no operators are provided, the default operator is "AND”.	three plug monomers porous is the same as: three AND plug AND monomers AND porous
OR	Returns results that include apple or banana. When a Boolean other than “AND” is used in the search query the default operator becomes “OR”.	apple OR banana three plug monomers porous NOT polymer is the same as: (three OR plug OR monomers OR porous) NOT polymer
NOT	Returns results that include apple and not banana	apple NOT banana
+	Returns results that include word after +. It must be attached immediately before the word or phrase that it is modifying to take effect.	+apple +banana +three +plug +monomers +porous -polymer is the same as: (three AND plug AND monomers AND porous) NOT polymer

Field Grouping
() AND, OR, NOT	Groups multiple clauses to a single field	sensor AND (cat OR dog) three AND plug AND monomers AND porous NOT polymer is the same as: three AND plug AND monomers AND (porous NOT polymer)
